Describing my work has never been easy. These artworks represent an extended conversation about nature, stewardship and the endurance of our planet, and about human experiences in these tumultuous times. I have a fascination with trees, roots and earth, all of which repeatedly find their way into my work. I love to create imaginary spaces with strange perspectives, to disregard understandings of scale, and exaggerate for creative effect. I make collage papers in a multitude of ways, introducing textures and subtle references into the layers of my work. I collect art supplies from the natural world and roadsides, using fragments of discarded stuff to build rich, mysterious surfaces. They are always highly textured with multiple layers, usually referencing science and the natural world and often, containing more than initially meets the eye.
